Major Partner
Digital Built Aotearoa Foundation (DBAF)
Welcoming Digital Built Aotearoa Foundation (DBAF) as our Major Partner and Session Partner for Clearway 2026!
Digital Built Aotearoa Foundation (DBAF) is a charitable trust that provides a neutral, national home for New Zealand’s growing ecosystem of open geospatial tools – including the National Forward Works Viewer & NZ Underground Asset Register.
Its tools are used by 24 of New Zealand’s Road Controlling Authorities – including NZTA, and the major transport networks of Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington & Hutt City, Tauranga & Hamilton.
Born out of lessons from the Canterbury earthquakes, DBAF acts as a neutral data trust - stewarding rather than owning data, for the public good. It provides data standardisation and sharing through its common tools.
DBAF tools grow trusted repositories of infrastructure knowledge, with a strong focus on improving works coordination, collaboration and disaster resilience and recovery.
As an independent, vendor-neutral custodian, DBAF can hold intellectual property, set up data sharing agreements, and build trust between public and private organisations, fostering collaboration over competition so New Zealand’s delivery and maintenance of infrastructure is efficient, and so stakeholders are better prepared for emergency and disaster events.
